As usual Vikramarka went to the tree and put the corpse on his shoulder. Then Betal stopped him and narrated the following story:
“The city of Jayapuram was ruled by the Vysyampayana. He has three wives. Their names are; Chitrarekha, Tamaravalli and Mruganka. The king was leading a happy life with them. One day, during spring the king was walking along with his first wife Chitrarekha in his beautiful garden. Then suddenly a fly came and settled on the petals of the flower she wore on her head. Immediately she had fallen unconscious. The attendants in the garden served her in many ways and brought her to consciousness.
The next day the king was walking along with his second wife, Tamaravalli in the same garden. Due to heat even in the Moonlight there appeared some spots on her body. Quickly she was taken to the palace.
On the third day, the king was walking along with his last wife Mruganka. Then there were some sounds emanating while grinding of paddy. Because of those sounds her face and hands turned into red. It caused a lot of pain to her. She was rushed to the palace.
By narrating the story Betal asked, “ Vikram, tell me who is the most sensitive among the three?” Then Vikramarka replied, “Betal! In my view, the third wife of the king is the most sensitive among them the three as she could not withstand even the slitest sound generated from grinding of the paddy.” Being satisfied with the answer Betal disapeared.
