Hello Readers !
I am extremely happy to put, an anthology of my short stories, before you. As you would observe, they were originally written in Telugu- my mother tongue. With a view to reach wider spectrum of readers, and to introduce Telugu short stories to people at large, I have come out with an English version of my stories. You can have a glimpse of my perception of our people's approach in facing and dealing with various situations in life. It is said that about eight crore Telugu people reside in Andhra Pradesh and an equal number of people are spread over various States of India and in different parts of the World. We are accustomed to identifying ourselves with the local area and adapt ourselves to the circumstances, in our pursuit of survival. Though the characters of my stories are from Telugu origin, they equally represent other Indians as well.
Since I have been in Mumbai since my birth, I am fascinated with this City. I see that people earn their living here, but curse it for its so called shortcomings like mechanical life, congestion in local trains, litter on roads, an ocean of people wherever you go, the gang wars, the bomb blasts etc. In fact these things are found in every populous city, all over the World and are not peculiar to Mumbai alone. I want to project the positive aspects of Mumbai life and hence I chose Telugu characters with whose life I am familiar and depicted their life in Mumbai. It is here in Mumbai, that there are many, many rags to riches success stories. I want to show as to how, Mumbai has space for every one, be it a footpath dweller or a billionaire. I have some convictions and ideologies. I chose fiction in the form of short stories as a medium to share such thoughts with you. These stories, written over period of about two decades, cover a wide spectrum of topics. Telugu readers welcomed these, for their simplicity and diversity. They also commented that, these are different from the run of the mill stories of boy meets girl and romance. I eagerly await for your response and frank opinion, through mails or letters .
