Hi, Mrinal. Good Morning! Can you meet me at my desk in about five minutes?” Snigdha called Mrinal on intercom.
It was a Monday and Snigdha had reached her office early in the morning. She was clearing her pending work and was preparing for the week ahead.
“I got a call from Hyderabad office that the Painting of “Nala and Damyanti”, has not reached them yet. I have sent them a mail - saying we had dispatched the painting almost two weeks ago. I remember having cleared this painting almost a month ago. Is there any specific reason for the delay?”
Snigdha questioned Mrinal as he reached her office desk.
“I was caught up in other work and this was a bit delayed. I will ensure clearing this in a day or two” Mrinal assured Snigdha. His straightforward response showed that he did not like being questioned by Snigdha.
“Well, I can understand your work pressure. But please note that the project is ready for launch in November and we are in March. It has only 8 months to go and we need to select almost 200 more paintings in order to reach the target of 500. We need to catch up with more pressure in days to come. Please let me know if you need my assistance” Snigdha instructed Mrinal, politely but firmly.
“Can I also know how many such paintings are lying at our office, which are cleared by me, but not sent to Hyderabad, so far?” Snigdha wanted to get into more details.
“May be around 10. I will clear all those by this weekend.” Mrinal assured Snigdha.
“Ok. I would like to go around the store house in the afternoon and take a stock of the situation. Will you be able to arrange the same?” It is this personal quality of Snigdha to take responsibility beyond her mandate which won her accolades from Indranil.
Mrinal seemingly looked uncomfortable, but covering it up on the face, he quickly replied to Snigdha, “Yeah sure. I will do the same, may be by tomorrow. Will that be ok?”
“Ok. No Problem. But please remember, I am here to help you if you have any problem. So let’s take a look around the work and finish off the pending load by tomorrow” Snigdha eased the environment, giving Mrinal a pause from the embarrassment.
She checked her calendar and noticed that Apsara was coming to the office to meet her in the afternoon.
