Description

The main intention in writing my autobiography is to share my experiences and sufferings as a schizophrenic patient, with the world and to help these victims. My life is very ordinary and I have nothing to highlight it except my experiences as a schizophrenic patient and the sufferings I underwent during my illness.

It is a small book and I mainly dealt with my child hood, my education and then about my illness and the treatment I had. I mainly wanted to focus on how a schizophrenic patient experiences the suffering and I wanted to tell the world that it is totally curable if it is treated in time. I am one of those fortunate people who got good treatment and regained their mental health. But my concern is on those huge lots who did not get proper treatment and experiencing hell every minute and end their lives. I wanted to put it for discussion among the intellectuals, bureaucrats and the doctors about the necessity of establishing more psychiatric hospitals and allot more aid for the welfare of these victims. I tried to explain the mental status and the suffering of these victims during their illness. I also tried to remove the stigma from these people and appealed the world to treat these people with kindness and extend a friendly hand. I can say categorically that this illness can not be cured without proper treatment and I also can say that it is totally curable if it is properly treated at an early stage.

This book may be useful to the patients and their family members.

Thanks Surya Garu for writing this book. I have seen suffering my nephew who is just below 15 years. There is lot of pain and agony one has to go thru facing this disease. They need lot of support and affection. You have narrated very well how much help and affection you have got from your family and friends. Best part is you have not given any importance to the people who has not supported and troubled you. This book will definitely change the mindset of many towards the people who are suffering with Schizophrenia. I hope some more people will come out and express how they have dealt with this painful suffering. Definitely this will help to create a caring society to overcome this suffering and stop just branding them as Mad or Mental people.
